KoriStarfire as Princess Venus in a costume she made herself.

KoriStarfire says:

"So... this costume took about 8 months of my life. I combined 2 patterns to get the look I wanted. The reason it took me so long is because I really wanted to make the costume as close to bridal quality as my skills would allow. I also had to drive to Chicago and buy my fabric there and have it shipped since they didn't have what I needed directly in stock. The satin and chiffon are exactly the same color. I felt that different materials would capture the appropriate feel of the gown instead of two different colors. I also really liked the chiffon because the fabric just comes off as an expensive fabric in my head somehow and a Princess using magic can magic herself into an expensive dress. lol It's all logic! >.>;"

"Anyway, while the pattern is simple, taking all the extra little detail steps (like finished inside edges and lining and the f-ing train and the french bustle) is what took all the extra time. And you know moving residences and work made things slower too lol"

"I also really wanted to put a train in the dress because for some reason everyone seems to miss the fact that all the Sailor Princess gowns have trains. It's right there in the manga, it got its own two-page spread. So I really wanted to do the dress justice.

Also to make the train less of a pain in the ass to wear, I installed a french wedding bustle. (I just like how the french bustle looks more than a ballroom bustle) While yes tying the bustle was a huge pain as it was a 5 tier bustle for both the chiffon and main dress, it really made the back of the dress look very nice and poofy and only enhanced the mermaid look of the dress under the chiffon over-skirt."

"I put snaps on the shoulder bows and the choker-bow because if they got caught on something I didn't want the dress to tear horribly. So instead there are snaps. I also put snaps on the shoulder straps in the back for the same reason and in case I wanted to make the strap tighter.

I made the hairbow as well and reinforced it with mid-weight interfacing and some stiff pellon product. The rose I already had from a different project that never happened so I just sewed that on to the bow and then added a hairclip."
"The wig is a cosworx wig (before they were discontinued) its a Rose in 25 and its the best wig I've ever owned. It never tangles, the color is perfect and its absolutely beautiful. Its really a shame that Cosworx is all phased out cause this was one of their best products.

Shoes were purchased off amazon. They are 5-inch foot killers. I've never had a shoe give me so much pain in my life before. but they were yellow and had ankle straps and fit the role. So whatever. I spent the day in flip flops anyway and wore the shoes for judging and photos. lol"
